Please be supportive and sensitive in this forum.

Livewire's Depression and Emotional Imbalance forum is a place for you to give and receive support. Nobody's problems are insignificant.

Keep these thoughts in mind as you post:

  • These types of post may be removed or edited:

    - Encouraging harm or killing of self/others (in this forum, it is never a joke) - your post will be removed and you may receive an informal or formal warning.
    - Posts that do not offer any support, sympathy or sensitive advice
    - Flaming (posting merely to insult or degrade a person) - this is a common cause of serious topics having to be locked. Don't participate in flame-wars!
    - Telling somebody that they are seeking attention (attention-seeking is a problem in itself and does not mean someone doesn't need help)
    - Telling somebody that their problems are insignificant, or that they should just be tougher, get over it or put up with it
    - Details about methods of injury or suicide (this can be considered tip-sharing)
    - Replying to or quoting inappropriate posts, even if you are defending someone (report it, instead)

  • This forum contains sensitive people. They are often very emotional and experiencing intense feelings. They may not type in perfect English, and this is perfectly okay - do not criticise a person's typing/grammar.

  • It is nice to encourage people to message you if they need to talk. However, try to say something more than "pm me" as it isn't very helpful.

  • SUICIDE: We are unable to offer advice directly relating to suicide, for legal reasons. If you post about contemplating suicide, we may need to edit or remove your post. Try to focus on explaining your situation or feelings in other ways - we want to help and support you as much as we can! Have a look at these helplines or consider our Emergency Help resources.

  • Avoid off-topic discussions.

  • Remember that you can choose to have your topic NOT display in "Fresh Topics" when you create it.

If you see a post you think is not appropriate, please fight back by reporting it! Click "Report Post" under their post.

Mack, this wasn't pointed straight at you.

Edit: Mack it is. Somehow DollHouse doesn't have the same ring as Mack.

My name is Mack. I don't expect you to remember that but just in case you ever get tired of calling me Dollhouse.

Thank God this has been posted at last. I doubt the sort of people who type those things will bother to read it, though. Maybe we should just hunt them down instead.

Anybody who tells another member to kill themselves (even if they say they are joking) will be banned

You should probably make the "even if they say they are joking" bold. That seems to one of the main problems with people telling other members to kill themselves. They always clame that they were joking. Is it in the guidlines saying that you can't joke around like that?

Otherwise, excellent points. It's a good thing that they're actually written down.

Sadly enough, so do I. But it gives them no excuse for their actions, and nobody can say we didn't tell them.

Ryguy (I mistyped that Rygay at first, it was absolutely unintentional but it made me giggle so I thought I'd tell you ), thanks for bringing that up. It's true, that's a common excuse and not everybody does know that they'll be banned for it.

I agree!! I was told to kill myself by a member once.  Its a shame Im good at holding grudges, because I can still remember it very clearly.

Argh.  It definately makes you feel terrible, and so its mighty good that its written down.

Thanks :)
