I don't quite understand what the issue could be with giving birth naturally after having a c-section with a previous child... doesn't really make any sense. Wouldn't the doctors prefer to not have to do all that extra work?

And maybe my mum was just unlucky then? idk. I hope that doesn't happen to me.

Because most OB/GYNS are scared of natural births. Many have hardly seen any and they're long and up to 70 hours of uncertainty.

Or they could do 30 minutes of completely them-controlled surgery, which also makes them 2-3x as much money.

They're afraid of lawsuits with natural births too. You sign more waivers with a cesarean.

I was born natural and will have babies natural.

Also, you can't DECIDE to have a c-section most of the time. If you have an emergency c-section the first time, then the rest of the times you will have a scheduled c-section(if you decide or the doctor recommends.)

Natural isn't really painful. Yeah, you tear. But they stitch it back up and you hurt for a few weeks, but...

Natural births are more common that c-sections. You know that, right? They're not scared of natural births.

And 70 hours? Who the fuck has 70 hour labor? It's possible, but..It's usually a day or less.

Do you know if you were born "naturally" or through caesarian section?

If you ever have children, which would be your preference?

I'm not really sure which option is better. Sure, a c-section may save your vagina from a lot of trauma, but it comes at the expense of your stomach. Seriously, they really cut deep down into your body - the staples they have to put in afterwards are grisly and the scarring is nasty.

But then, as I said, going the old fashioned route can mean horrible trauma for the most fragile and sensitive part of your body.

Both can leave you in terrible pain for months to come.

Life sucks. If the time ever comes to make that choice, it's gonna be tough.

I'm probably leaning more towards natural though. The idea of having my innards hacked apart like I've seen on TV sounds worse than anything.

You are completely and totally misinformed. They don't "hack your innards" and it doesn't leave behind any terrible scarring.

My mom gave birth to my brother and I both naturally. I had planned to give birth to my son naturally as well, but Labor was too much for me and my condition so the doctor opted for the C-section. my only concern with having a c-section is the recovery time. I was in the hospital for a week and half and once I got home I had to stay on bed rest. it was hard to walk I as sore for good month and half.

Women who have had c-section in the past are perfectly capable of having a natural birth with their next child. (unless you have a condition where natural birth would be to strenuous for the mother) One of my aunts has heart condition (pace maker) so all her children were delivered via c-section.

The local hospitals(There are 5 in the tricounty area) here will not allow VBACs.  If you want one, you have to go to the teaching hospital an hour away or have a home birth.

I had an elective Cesarean (for personal reasons that I don't feel the need to go into). The scar is practically nonexistent. It's pretty much just a slight dip. They stitch it internally these days.

No they aren't. The cesarean rate at some hospitals is up to 80%. In many it's well over 50%. Just because the national average is 30ish percent doesn't mean that that's what it is at every hospital.

And of those who don't end up with a cesarean, most are not really 'natural' as they still end up with epidurals and myriad of other 'interventions'.

Labor also has stages. Most people think of labor only in terms of the time between arrival at hospital and the time when a baby is delivered. The time you arrive at the hospital is usually around 'Active' labor, when your cervix is usually between 3-7 cms dilated but the woman has already been in labor sometimes for days doing the 'Early' labor (0-3ish cms dilated).

I went into labor on a Friday afternoon and did all my Early Labor until Sunday morning when I moved into 'Active' labor and went to the hospital and then it was just before 9 pm on Sunday when I had my son, even though we were only at the hospital for about 14 hours.

Natural.  I was born like 30 minutes after my mom arrived to the hospital, so there wasn't really time for a C-section.

I don't care a whole lot how the woman I have kids with does gives birth, but I tend to think C-sections are often price gouging.  Most of the time they're unnecessary and seem to be done in such numbers to increase the costs the insurance providers pay.

My mother had all 4 of us naturally, including the twins. I was her worst labour apparently lol

I will always plan to have a natural birth, it's what all mothers should aim for really because its the best outcome for all involved (providing there are no complications of course). C-sections can really prevent you from getting back to normal life as quickly. It is major surgery after all and it's harder to take care of a newborn when you're trying to mend yourself. And you can't drive for 6 weeks afterwards (at least here in the UK). My sister completely put me off the idea of a c-section because she was just so poorly after giving birth and she got really depressed because she felt as though she couldn't be a proper mother to her daughter.

Natural.
And FYI your insides are not hacked apart via c-section.
And your vagina doesn't suffer "trauma".

You make everything sound like a torture method.

And idk, My mom had me naturally and they had to cut her down there. She said it was terribly painful and took several months to heal.

It's called an episiotomy and it's not that big of a deal. I had one.

At my post birth appointment with my OB/GYN we went over my c-section and she discussed my VBAC possibilities with me. She explained to me that since my reason for having a c-section was something that could be a none factor in a future pregnancy(assuming my pregnancy is healthy and everything goes according to plan and go into labor naturally)  that I could be a great candidate for VBAC. I'm definitely going to try hardest to deliver this baby naturally.

That's great, I really hope you are able to!  I just feel girl this time.  I keep wanting to say she when referring to the baby.
