Contest: 'Me' Collage May 2, 2012 - May 31, 2012

I used to LOVE making collages as a kid, and I love looking at ones other people have made, so I thought I'd set up a contest and see what you creative folk come up with!
(If you don't know what a collage is, its lots of different images/words/ materials/pretty much anything stuck on to a large piece of paper/card. Google images will show you roughly what I mean.)

The theme of the collages for this contest is 'Me' - try to make your collage a visual representation of yourself. How you interpret that is up to you; it could be your interests, your favorite things, things you have done, your dreams/plans for the future, or a mixture of these and more.

Having discussed this with the contest manager, I'm adding a digital collage category for those of you without materials/a camera or those who just prefer creating digitally.

Rules:
* It MUST be your own work
* One entry per person - quality is better than quantity!
* If you make a large collage you can enter multiple photos to show it all  
* You can use ANY materials (as long as they are yours to use/you have permission to use them, don't go sticking on your sister's jewellery or cutting up your mum's magazines without asking!)
* You can give a written explanation of your collage if you want, but its not compulsory

So you have the whole of May to get cutting and pasting! I will consider extending if needed.

Music ----> art contest April 29, 2012 - May 30, 2012

alright, so i dont really give a shit about points, so I'm going to hold a contest. The secondary purpose of this is to also expand peoples musical horizons, by getting them to actually listen to these, since I'm not going to give out points for anyone half-assing an entry. Also I want to do something interesting on here, instead of just the usual trolling. I have 4350 reward points, so thats a lot of winners (8-9, and if anyone wants to donate then perhaps more). Top entry gets a $12 donation; I might give out two if they're really nice since I have a fair bit of money.
Basically, you are to listen to the songs/pieces (i use the second term because I listen to a lot of instrumental music)....listen in depth several times though. Most of this should also be cranked up, as it is atmospheric. Capture the mood/where it takes you/what mental images & visions it gives you etc...draw or paint something deep and moving. Digital art/videos are okay if done well and not just a bunch of copypasta. Double emphasizing that this needs to be quality work. Im not looking for literal interpretations; for example if you just try to be snarky or rip off the image in the youtube video you won't get points or a donation. Use of lyrics is okay to some extent, but I'd prefer if you just listened to the instruments themselves. I love high abstraction and that kind of shit, so that'll be a major bonus. Anyway, you get the idea. Get cracking!
